FAFSA WebsiteWhile college admission application deadlines might be on the forefront for most right students now, it’s never too early to begin thinking about financial aid. The first step in the financial aid process is to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – the primary form used to determine eligibility for need-based aid. The application process for the 2011-12 academic year begins January 1, 2011, and students are encouraged to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1.

Applicants cannot submit their 2011-12 FAFSA at this time, but by using the FAFSA4caster, they can learn more about the financial aid process and eligibility requirements, get an idea of what completing the FAFSA is like, apply for their Federal Student Aid PIN, and receive an early estimate of their federal financial aid eligibility. All of the information entered into the FAFSA4caster can be transferred to the FAFSA itself, once the student is ready to apply using FAFSA on the Web.

The FAFSA4caster is available online at www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov
